I don’t know what it was I did
Or perhaps, didn’t do
To be allowed the privilege
Of a glimpse into you

I don’t know what influenced me
Or where I found the nerve
To pursue a treasured friendship
I never could deserve

I don’t know just what circumstance
Made our two hearts connect
But I shared secrets easily
That I always protect

I don’t know what you saw in me
Or what you ceased to see
But I know that this missing you
Is abject misery

And I know the exact moment
I learned how much I care
I turned around to find your smile
Breath stopped - you were not there

Suthern ~

I think he's just taking a sabbatical! Give him time--he'll be back. A deep and mutual friendship is a very precious commodity that can stand the test of time and its occasional trials and separations.

Remember this, dear belle of south, anyone would be honored to have a friend such as yourself--and there would be many willing to take his place in your life--and your heart.

Lovin' hugs
EA

I like the read of this. Smooth and flows easily....

'To persue a treasured friendship
I never could deserve'

Wonder how many of us feel that way.

I really like this and what Miss Earth Angel had to say....

Hugs, Pat

Enchantress: Would you believe I almost reposted an old one called Ghosts instead of this one? LOL The haunting must have slithered over. *G* Thank you so much for enjoying. *S*

Sudhir: It is always a treat to see your name on my work... I thank you! *S*

Seymour: But... but... but... the answer is usually “SHUT UP, woman!” LOL Seriously... there are things I’ll always want to know... and know I never will... doesn’t stop the wondering though. *S* Thank you so much, dear friend! *S*

Marge: You know you ALWAYS help, dear lady... just by being you... just by being my friend. *S* I thank you ever so much. *S*

EA: You are a sweetheart... and I do appreciate you so! *S* I’m well aware that I don’t wear well on some folks. LOL I’m ever so grateful for those that manage to put up with me, no matter what. *S* But now don’t you go getting any ideas... LOL This wasn’t written ‘bout that sweet Toe... if he disappears, I’m following! LOL Thank you!

regards: I think many of us feel inadequate... *S* (Some of us are. *G*) And yup... that angelic one is gonna have my head so swelled I’ll NEVER find a halo to fit! LOL Thank you so much! *S*

Well dang that's no fun.
Sometimes we don't always get back
what we give, then other times
we get more.  It's easy to shut down
and send mixed messages, especially on here.

I hope you haven't lost the connection for good.  Chin up and keep smiling pretty~

Depth of feeling here, and speaking of a pain that's maybe shared -- Sometimes that other person's baffled too.

Ask 'em, and you may be surprised at the answer.

Well...the title made me think of several good blonde jokes to moth tease ya with...but this tender, touching write of heart is much too lovely in its sincerety to make jokes about...
besides thats Toe's job
As always poetess Ruth, your rhymes have the cadence of a heart beat.

You're the best I've ever felt ...
it's so wrong not to be with you.
It's getting harder to stay away,
it stops my heart just to be with you.

Wasn't there a song about a similar subject.
"I love the way she walks, the way she talks and the color of her hair...like she was something good...her eyes so big and bright..but she's not there."
Was this the Kinks?
Or was it the Zombies?
I think I'll listen to this
later tonight...James

suthern...Much depth of feeling in this, my friend...it happens too often, that you don't realize the depth of feeling until the person is gone.

Sweet Suthern Lady, this really stuck out at
me, even though I love the whole poem.

I don’t know just what circumstance

And this...

-----------------------------------------
And I know the exact moment
I learned how much I care
I turned around to find your smile
Breath stopped - you were not there

Thank you for sharing this beautiful poem
with us.

What a trooper you are, suthern gal, defending Toerag even though we all know this poem is about him. Some day you will recover from unique form of insanity and see that there are actual MEN out there who appreciate you. Why settle for a body part when you can have a complete man?

Oh Ruth, I'm so sorry.....such a fool. I should never have treated you that way -- I could afford another ticket, but I couldn't afford to hurt you like that...I swear I'll never do it again, swear it. I'll be back in Houston soon, could I see you, just...talk...even that? Just tell me you'll listen....give me another chance....talk to me?....answer my calls?

Ratleader: They're not always available for the asking, though. *S* Thank you very much for reading... and finding the depth. *S*

JM: I just had to go and choose a title that reflects my usual state of mind, didn’t I. LOL Thank you! *S*

James Michael: The Zombies. *S*

Martie: Maybe after enough such too-late-learnings, we learn to truly appreciate what’s in front of us... but the learning process isn’t easy.*S* Thank you, kind lady! *S*

Nightshade: You sweetie... thank you so very much! *S*

Sunshine: I love the way you described it... quiet suffocation. *S* How very accurate! *S* Thank you very much! *S*

garysgirl: I thank you so much for loving it... and yes... those verses condense what I spread out to more. *S*

Balladeer: Whatcha mean, SETTLE???? LOL He won’t even let me see the body parts, much less lay claim to any! LOL If they really exist, couldja send names of those appreciative men? *G* Mind you, I'm not about to give up what you call this insanity... I'm just checking to see if you're fibbing. LOL

Dark Angel: I appreciate that honor very much... even more so because it took double effort! *S* Thank you! *S*

Ratleader: I don’t happen to have an etiquette book anywhere around... but I’m sure it has to be a major breach of propriety to make someone snicker and snort to the point where their breakfast coffee exits through the nostrils! Couldja please make that visit soon enough to help clean up the mess!!! ROFLMAO!!!  Are you sure your name isn’t Bratleader???? LOL Thanks for the additional read... and the guffaws. *G*

suthern ~~ I was so drawn by the title, as it seems lately I spend my whole life in a constant state of baffled.

However, the title and the poem I conjured up in my head before I read this were not the same. This was sad and hauntingly beautiful. I love the way you write.

Hugs, Marti
