Thes Japanese verses are kind of tricky sometimes. I'm putting this back to the top so someone else might read and give you instruction. Okay?

haiku has a subject of nature, always something about nature...otherwise it's a senryu or something like that...

three lines in a haiku

first line has 5 syllables
second line 7
third line 5

Haiku and Senryu are, as mentioned, syllable counting

Senryus can encompass everything...Haiku is strictly nature oriented.

and I don't know that if a Tanka is subject to strict subject matter as a Senryu is.

I am so glad you posted this one...it is a wonderful learning poem...lessons brought to you by Professor Sunshine. Believe me, no greater teacher can be found...I have noted her instructions and shall try these poetic arrangements in the near future.
