Hi, QjQ. Thes Japanese verses are kind of tricky sometimes. I'm putting this back to the top so someone else might read and give you instruction. Okay? Hugs, Ethel [This message has been edited by garysgirl (05-29-2003 02:44 AM).] |

haiku has a subject of nature, always something about nature...otherwise it's a senryu or something like that... three lines in a haiku first line has 5 syllables second line 7 third line 5 |

Is it Haiku? Heck who cares? It's a cool write anyway! Blessings! Shirl Till oceans cease to flow and deserts lose their sands, may beauty surround you every day and wealth be in your hands. [This message has been edited by JilGirl (05-29-2003 03:27 AM).] |

Haiku and Senryu are, as mentioned, syllable counting 5 7 5 some do 4 3 4 Senryus can encompass everything...Haiku is strictly nature oriented. Tankas are 5 7 5 7 7 and I don't know that if a Tanka is subject to strict subject matter as a Senryu is. slick green ribbeters tree clingers will soon kerplunk swamp water crooners |

I am so glad you posted this one...it is a wonderful learning poem...lessons brought to you by Professor Sunshine. Believe me, no greater teacher can be found...I have noted her instructions and shall try these poetic arrangements in the near future. Thanks Q and Sunshine, Patricia |
