note: i wrote this on 9-11 after i saw the towers collapse. The world seems to have moved on but the day is still etched in our memories. In a crash of steel An explosion of fire The steel bird crashes In a breath of air A beat of a heart A blink of an eye Thousands of lives..end The groan of metal The crack of steel The towers collapse Now just a memory Chaos ensues, people running But from the smoke, heroes arise Like a phoenix rising from the flames The american spirit rises from the rubble Rising from the destruction meant to subdue it The indomitable will of America standing strong Helping those who have fallen Recovering the bodies of the dead Our spirit is not broken No, it was just asleep, and now has awakened And justice shall prevail Those dead mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters Sons and daughters Shall be avenged Terror lasts but a short while But our spirit will live on [This message has been edited by crimson tear (06-11-2003 02:30 PM).] |
