Flourescent, the weak autumn sun illuminates bronzing trees. Long tailed tits, sing musically from tree to tree. Dark greying skies provide a screen for the sun's projector. Long shaddows stretch into a silent amber and gold world of soft edges. Only time can bring my eagerly awaited, bitterly cold snowbound dream. People still pass me by, in little more than light jackets. But ah, how long will it be before i am alone, save for winter hardy persons, muffled up in layers of clothing, sweating in the ice cold dream. Blasts of early reminders, raise my hopes that winter has begun. It's final approach to eventualy land and settle in drifts. Balls are still tossed for yapping dogs to chase, children still play, oblivious of the approaching white sheet, their fireworks explode in a sky soon to extinguished and obliterated by the blizzard. Bonfires are being prepared, their flames will dance in the pristeen white sheet and translucent ice beauty. Dusk draws near now, birds fly past, magpies rattle their echoing call across the wood of trees and into the faded summer dreams of people. |
