The Music and the Sumac Wars While Fishing

A soft gauze sky
drapes the hills

Sumac crowds together
its sharp underskirt
blocking the way

The relentless breaking of sticks
echoes down the years
back to the wagon wheels
stuck in the silt of discovery
with the percussion of path clearing

Cattails watch from the serene other side
old ladies still straight but dry
declining to dance with the air
the nests of spring are stuffed
with their gray hair

Listen to the music
make up words to go with water
it is stealing time and replacing it

We beat it with line after line
thrown from sticks of good intention
the movement of the wrist and hand
like a conductor in search of a song
and wanting something fresh

(smiles) I love picking cattails in those wetlands, sweet friend, just love the fuzz that comes out of it and blowing it all around! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, this brought so many peaceful feelings, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Cool and what I'd give to watch. I sure love nature and your writing.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Oh, the way you do catch a moment and make it sing! I'm going back and study this poem -- study it. I want to get more like you.

I was going to borrow
one of these thoughts
to place

here

but it rippled all
down the page,

and time
was gone

before I could.

Smiling...wishing
I were fishing
with a poet.

I didn't expect such serenity from a poem with sumac wars in the title (I've suffered the effects of picking such pretty leaves *G*)... but it doesn't get any better than this. *S* Beautiful work!

Sweet Martie, this is the prettiest poem about fishing that i've ever seen. My friend, you could write a beautiful poem about sweeping the floor, I'll bet! LOL

Oh, I love to go fishing. It is good to eat fresh fish, isn't it?

Hugs, sweet Lady

A soft gauze sky
======================

time after time you do this...
put a new image and poetic perspective on something we see every day...
its what makes your poetry so fresh, so unique and consistantly written at a higher level. And time after time you make me say IWIHWT and I want to write like this when my muse grows up.

Im still imagining your voice ...
can see the sparkle in your eyes.
I cant explain your power over me
Its understated understood & beautiful.
