When you talked through gritted teeth and clenched fists that is my anger too

I felt you being pushed to the edge and I saw you fall through

I'm sorry I didn't run; I'm sorry I didn't jump with you like I was supposed to

I let you go; let you down, let you fall without a sound

I turned my back selfishly, hopping it might take away the sting

I promise I didn't use you to get to where I needed to be

I promise I loved you and regretted the day you fell away from me

I'm sorry it was all a waste and didn't change a thing;

I still feel pain in the middle of the night and my heart
continues to bleed

And don't think I forgot why you gritted your teeth so hard or clenched your fists so tight

I'll never forget that I pushed you over the edge so I didn't have to deal with the problem that existed in my life

Love is when you do things you swore you'd never do
