On the eve of a foregone conclusion

The Worm had spent the day
in the counting house
sorting, stacking and arranging
the fruits of his labor
by color and size
unheedful of Dogboys’ lamentations
about the lack of a quality
mens’ habit-dasher
(Dreams of flightless birds with neither
grace nor gravy were distracting Iggy
from these goings-on)
