The Music Within

I fear if I don't risk the game today
I will be left in solemn reverie
If in the morningI forget to play
The many songs locked in my memory.

Time and its wonder never seems to last
Wreaking dark shadows where I once saw light
I know I can't relive what has now past,
But I will try to win the timeless fight.

I need to hear the rhythm of my heart
Express the hungry passion in my soul
And give it wings and freedom to impart
The stories that as yet remain untold.

I don't want to depart this world today
Encumbered with an unsung melody.

This is my very first attempt at a sonnet...
I contacted Marge Tindal and she referred me to
Denise who was a great help.
Thanks! You gals are awesome!

Maggie it is so great to see you posting and you couldn't have two more talented ladies help you out.  What a lovely job you did on this sonnet, it's beautiful.

I know I can't relive what has now past,
But I will try to win the timeless fight.

A great message to all in these lines and full of hope.

Oh...so good. I know this feeling well.  I have been away from my writing for so long.  Now that I have found it again, I fear it will depart.  So, I remind myself every day to sing it praises.

Lovely sonnet!

Thank you dear poet friends for your generous comments on my sonnet. I've been away from PIP too long..... I'm going to have to start reading and commenting on all your wonderful works of art.
Love and peace, Maggie ((~.~))
