Pulled into the way he says my name and how it lingers on his lips My ears continue to ring with the sound of desire as it pulsates to my fingertips I hold my breath and brace myself for what I think is to come But I quickly exhale as I have been disappointed like all the times before My racing heartbeat is not felt by the one who says my name Instead his heart is pounding at a steady rate I have failed to make him feel what I have felt for so long My stomach is the only one that jumps when I hear our song When I hear the sound of a ring, I hear his voice inside my head I quickly look and see, but of course it is not him I scold myself for doing what I thought I had learned from by now Letting my heart get ahead of my mind, and playing tricks on me somehow Why do I torture myself and bring on the pain of not being wanted by the one I want I continue to hold some glimmer of hope in my hand and some faith inside my heart Though I know it's pointless, and leads to nothing but a dead end, I cannot help but let my heart jump everytime I think of him He is the one I think of when I watch two lovers kiss I wonder what it would feel like to be introduced to his lips He is the one I wish to hold when the temperature drops and I become cold To feel his warmth brings me comfort knowing I am not alone I see his smile in my dreams and it repeats inside my head His kind heart and gentle touch remind me that I am in love with a friend Love is when you do things you swore you'd never do |
