Symbolism

I followed a symbol to a bend
But not quite to its very end
It took me into shadows fall
Where devils and angels call

A symbol is an obtuse thing
That makes the mind and heart to sing
But by itself it only stirs
The road to thinking to infer

It often patterns high and low
That makes for seeds for you to grow
They are the mist that frames the dew
And the radical of the new

The symbol is like gravity
A common of sagacity
It brings the dust of what you sweep
Into a pile of thoughts to reap

So study symbols that you sew
And watch the path on which you go

Seymour,

I loved this.  To separate the symbol from what is behind the symbol...some I have know have gotten hung up on this.

Wonderful write.

If the symbol for a poet would be thy pen ...
tis your verse that would be rhyme's wend of bend.

Very insightful words for us to ponder today Sy!
How about sitting awhile, have a cup of tea and chat with me?

Very wise words yet again dear Seymour. I will be thinking about symbolism all day, I just know it. But, for this moment, have a slice of warm banana bread with another cup of tea. hugs, Chris

I think I know the symbol you may be referring to Sy,  and couldn't gratify them with finding it and putting it on here.  Oh well, that is how I took this poem and I am one of millions was glad to see that symbol dissapear from the world's eye, and the sight of it sickins me.  See, I probably went too deep BUT it is good sometimes to do that. (I will email the symbol in my mind.)

The symbol that I see in eye
a lazy eight upon it's side
something that still lifts me high
carrying my thoughts far and wide

Eternity, O Wise Eye, I think you know
Sy's wisdom shall always flow...

Good morning, Mr. T.!

To me, Rodin's "The Thinker" is symbolic of you, Dear Sagacious One!

(sigh) Your sign just has to be the Year of the Dragon sign as far as I'm concerned, and you sure unleash that spirit out with Randy beside you! (big hugggssssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, how obtuse it can be indeed, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Seymour, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
