The ravages of time
have lined your pretty face;
all the dreams we prayed for
seemed to go away;
I know in the quiet dark
you sometimes cry
for all the lines
and broken dreams,
and tears we've known;
but when you stand up
straight and proud
beneath the sun,
I smile,
you smile,
we dream again.

icebox...the way you perceive is the way you look, I think....and the way you feel, is the way you see.  You got me thinking ...you do that well.  Appreciate it!

Martie ~ *smile* Well, personally I always worry about thinking; I never know where I am going to end up.  Thank you for reading my poem and for taking time to comment.  I appreciate it.

somehow, I can feel this is for me, and if it's not, then I will keep it anyway.

That is exactly what I hope to have when time lines my face...

Beautiful and hopeful!

Beautiful!

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

Poignant but optimistic. A happy ending in old age huh? Hope I get there...

This is so very beautiful and truthful.
If we didn't hold on to our hopes and our
dreams, just where would we be?
