Leaves fall lightly to the ground, sparkling in the sun's warm rays, trees laid bare as the north wind blows, animals sniff and feel the the approaching weather. Birds, deer and foxes change colour, wooly and warm, hurrying through the heather. Across the land, fields and woodland turn to a patchwork of reds, browns and yellows. Earthy smells of dead or dying leaves fill the air, a weak sun shines into a valley of ploughed fields, full of noisy rooks and crows. Saffron hue of the setting sun, calls an end to the day, spectral shapes of the now darkened woodland provide shelter for foxes, badgers and owls to stay. Now the moon and stars fade into view and shine down on the slumbering people, behind the heavy thick black curtain of dreams. Soon it will be the clarion call of the birds dawn chorus, echoing over houses, fields and streams. As the misty dawn light comes up once more. (This poem has been published). Goldenrose. |

Absolutely radiant. I always enjoy reading your poetry. It brings warmth into the coldness that is the morning. It seems that everytime I read some of your work, I see something new yet something refreshingly familiar and your words reflect that perfectly. Extraordinary, Goldenrose. Junior Member, yv |

What sort of publication, Phil? It seems to be just right for some nature or field and stream sort of publication. It is chock-full of color and imagery. |
