Glean the fields at twilight Slow moving draped in black Hides the skin palest white Lost grains for she who lacks In dusk’s long shadows toil With dry dung fire heat Low flames brings water boil Waits to fill with things to eat Roots dug from rocky soil, An onion and small beet Thin broth barely sustains, But it’s all that’s to eat To quell the hunger pains. She roams throughout the night. Gloom Glean : To collect ( grain left by the Reapers) |

yes, the same as my soul sister, Khali Gul, gleans a meager existence from the harsh unforgiving soils of Afghanistan Khali Gul: /pip/Forum76/HTML/002969.html My Soul Sister [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (06-02-2003 01:18 PM).] |

Whether we are speaking geographically, soulfully, or mentally...often the meager become the rich. TD |

Thank you, Seymour Tabin, The light of day could reach almost any soul Ravenell is no exception Thank you, Nakdthoughts, Pleased you enjoyed my poem and we’ve yet to see the light in this soul Thank you, yv, As most here know, I write regularly All you have to do is look I am glad you did this time and took the time to respond Thank you, Passing Shadows, Always a pleasure to see your shadows beneath my writings Thank you, Midnitesun, I had not seen the your poem, but yes There is a similarity between their plights. My inspiration comes from the Book of Ruth Chapter 2 V2: And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn ….V3: And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers. There are many desperate plights. Thank you, ThisDiamond, Pleased you enjoyed, richness of the soul relates not to the richness of the body.
