We need to make up for our mistakes While attempting to conceal our flaws True identity is lost Masks are drawn by nature Held high with a fist of fear Some appear heavenily in their brilliance, others... -Others drip sullenly into the western night We need to conceal ourselves From friends From enemies From Strangers Faces mirror each other as though an ironic reflextion Indian War-paint Guerillas of the frontier Red demons enter the virgin forests The buffalo scream High and loud like the European sunset The brutal exhale of fire-smoke Rituals of the strange islands Tapped deep pitched black Parched with the bamboo claw A chant A phase A Ritual Welcome to the masquerade! |
