What makes us tell a stranger
things we usually keep inside?
What is it that these people have
that others can’t provide?

What cause’s all the pain that
makes us so hard on ourselves?
Some pass responsibility
Some take it for them self

It seems like most the troubles
that we find all stem from greed
It makes a person sell their soul
to get more then they need

Why can’t we just be satisfied
with everything we’ve got?
Why do we have to take away
from all those who have not?

When are we going to live our
lives and make our dreams come true?
Instead of finding an excuse
to simply just make do?

There comes a point in all
our paths when obstacles abide
And you must choose to struggle
or to take them all in stride

Life doesn’t come with warranties
when things start to break down
Life preservers from the sky
don’t fall before you drown

It’s true sometimes we are a
victim of our own device
And happiness is locked away
in hearts as cold as ice

Too bad the secrets to our
bliss so often can reside
Deep within a place where
demons also choose to hide

It does not mean that we
cannot control our destiny
And live a life that flows
along in perfect harmony

Life doesn’t owe us anything,
yet we can’t help but grieve
Until we learn how nice it feels
to give, then to receive

We all possess a spirit
that is deep and limitless
Learning how to tap it
is the key to our success

All the answers that we need
are out there far and wide
There in that pretty flower
other times, their cut and dried

There comes a time at crossroads,
when we have to now decide
To keep on walking aimlessly
or stop, and look inside

Great piece, well said. Life is full of decisions we just have to try to make the right ones without hurting others.

I like this very much... both the questions to ponder (though thinking is a tough job for a blonde *G*) and the wisdom you include... Excellent work! *S*

Richy,

One question, OK?  Are you talking to me?  I could have sworn you were speaking directly to me with this one.  Bud, I have to say I love all of your work...even the "Ballad of Jed Clampett" poam was wonderul, but this...this is spectacular!  Of course, you always reel me in with those poems that  make me ponder..."I Wonder."

Not to leave you in suspense about the frog thing...It is a joke between a friend and me (I will call him that at this point for lack of a better word...I have called him a few words that cannot be repeated here, however) LOL.  He said I was going to kiss a lot of frogs before I find my prince.  He didn't know what a giant toad he was. Unfortunately, I didn't know either.  So, now I date, but I have to keep kicking those darn frogs off my lilypad.  Does that make sense?

Love this writing,
A real goodun, Jed!

I thoroughly enjoyed the common sense wisdom in this piece. It appeals to the need to question ourselves.
Nicely done!

Coming from you Barry, that means a lot!
Thanks so much for stopping in. And for the kind remarks. I hope things are going well for you!

That is such a good point Julie. And many times, one of the hardest factors.
It was very nice to see you again! I appreciate you taking the time. Thanks much!

Hey Sue, how have you been? I hope all is well with you too! Thanks so much for dropping in. And as always, for your encouraging support. I hope everything is going good “Down Under.” You know I’m talking about Australia right?  lol

Ethel, your such a kind person. A friend, anyone would be lucky to have. Gary is one lucky man! Thanks for the nice reply.  Hugs back to you!

Dixie, I’m so glad you liked it! Wow, and in your library even. Now that is an honor! Thanks for the kind words.

Hi Nancy, I’m so pleased you enjoyed it. And thanks for the hugs and smiles. That’s more then enough to make any person’s day!  Thank you for your reply, it is always appreciated.

Patricia, lol your so funny! You know it’s funny though. That happens to me too. I’ll read a poem, and think, dang! That could have been written, just for me! Patricia, thanks for such a great reply. You really warmed my heart. And as far as them frogs go, I have a little joke for you, I found on the internet:

There once was a little frog who wanted to take out a home improvement loan to fix up his pad. His name is Kermit Jagger.
He hopped over to his local bank, went up to the teller and said, "Hi, I'd like to take out a loan to fix up my pad."
The teller replied, "You need to see our loan officer. Her name is "Patricia Black."
So the frog hops over to the loan officer's desk and sits down. When Patricia arrives she ask, "What can I do for you?"
The frog says, "I'd like to take out a loan to fix up my pad."
Patricia asked, "What do you have for collateral?"
After thinking for a couple of moments about what he could offer the frog reaches into his little froggy pocket and pulls out a small white elephant.
"This is a very unusual form of collateral." said Patricia. "I'll have to check with our bank president to see if it's ok."
Patricia goes to the president and says, "There's a frog named Kermit Jagger out there who want's a home loan and this white elephant is all he is offering for collateral. What should I do?"
The bank president takes the small white elephant and after carefully examining it hands it back to Patricia and says,
"It's a nick-knack Patty Black give the frog a loan. His old man's a Rolling Stone."

“Time’s fun, when your having flies.”    K. The Frog

I’ know, I’m croaking you up!

Thanks for everything, Ellie May!

Hey Eric, I’m not sure if we’ve met. Thanks for the great reply! That was very thoughtful of you. Take Care, Richy

Hi Maureen, this was funny:

“I wish another would read this and think hard and realize the truth in your words.”

I know what you mean, me too... lol

And big hugs back to you, for making me “feel” (good) too!

Thanks again for your kindness!

Hey, your mic was on and I heard you loud and clear.  LOL

And a great big thanks for not referring to me as Granny!

Watch out for all dem critters Ellie Mae keeps in the cement pond.  Might lose a leg or sumptin.  I heard some of 'em eat frogs!  Of course, the frog eatin' comment does not refer to ya'll.  But I have a few frogs, well...for another poem, for another poem!

Richy, another wonderful work here my dear friend, you must tap away at those keys endlessly, it held a true message which kept me captivated till the end.

Too bad the secrets to our
bliss so often can reside
Deep within a place where
demons also choose to hide

This peace I enjoyed most of all, showed fantasic imagination, wish I had thought of the lines myself. Congratulations!

May we all stop and look inside from time to time.

Take care my friend.
Sorry have missed some of your works, will catch up again.

Sincerely
Rick

Thank you Sandra, thanks for reading, and for the nice comment!

Did you Patricia? I was wondering why I was getting all that feedback (from the mic)...lol

Hey did I ever tell you the time I asked the waiter, “Do you have frog legs?”  And he said, “No, I just walk this way!”

Well, I hope soon, that one of your frogs, make you hoppy... Ooops!

I meant, happy...

Just remember, love, is total acceptance of the other person...

Warts, and all...

Talk to you soon Patricia,

Richy

Thanks Rick, this was a poem I had written a while ago. But I took out a few verses, and then added a few new ones. It’s kind of jumbled, kind of like a puzzle...lol but heck, I flung it against the barn anyway. They say, if you throw enough ---- (fill in blanks) against the wall, some of it is bound  to stick.

Well Rick, it’s time I make like a cow turd, and hit the trail...

lol

See ya soon,

Richy
