Exhausted from sorrow – oh, there was no day when grief fell asleep and then it was night. Release, I believe, is the reason, the goal, for conscious awareness to hasten retreat. Alive to my needs like a black magic witch sleep darkens my room with weighted eyelids. Tension succumbs to soft, gentle, strokes as a lover would bring from ecstasy peace. I sleep and I dream, trees, rivers, moonbeams, yet I can hear you cry. Sleep lies! It cannot hide an agony not of my design and I must wait; I’m waiting still, how long, what for, this waste of time? And in the shadows echoes roam, from mountaintops such sweet refrains, and I’m again asleep, my grief a second string to the melody of agony played hauntingly in me. Exhausted from sorrow – oh, there was no peace when grief fell asleep and then it was night! © Helen / 13 April 2003 |

Thank you Dreamer@. I'm usually hauled over the coals for "singing" as it were. |

Very nice.... I like your use of words here.... Bridgette "Somewhere, somehow, it should be possible to touch someone and never let go again. To hold someone, not for a moment but forever." Unknown |

Thank you for commenting, Bridgette. I'd forgotten that this was posted here so it was a surprise to have it come to light. Fortunately, the feeling of that moment has passed. |
