Of sticks and stones ‘pon welted backs to bring the witch’s chilling bray. And as the whip does crack and hiss a howling shriek curdles, I say. Of roaring fire and trilling lyre a song does dance of the crackle. For in the heat of searing skin there comes a last chilling cackle. A chant was heard to still the beat of hearts that stood in sheer amaze and once the sound was still, no more a thousand moaned for many days. For in this chant, this horrid cant a spell was cast upon the throng. Where life was drained of living souls within first born from daemon’s song. And as the sun does slowly lie into the night of howling moon, a faint wind carries yet the cries of first then born of witch’s croon. . A chilling portrayal of "The Burning Times" Mag. Excellent write, and lessons implied. Absolutely eerie, and yes, sad too. Thanks for this one. |

Oh my, Mr. Magnus, this is incredible. Flowing smoothly from tongue...images clear...in the whole, it is a classic piece. Now, this is poetry...the kind I long to write...with creamy texture and smoothness to savor. -Patricia |
