Where have the mad prophets gone? cowering in rainfilled gutters smelling foul muttering intelligible words lost evaporated before hitting the wind I remember you old gray hair long winded stories half drunk repeating yourself spitting truth between bellows of Jack I went back today to the spot where you begged for change now an office building A young drifter has taken your place except he has nothing to say Where did you go old intoxicated poet? Is your world better now? swimmiming in whiskey spouting Blake Where have the mad prophets gone? I yell slurring words into fused syllable repeating myself Where have the mad prophets gone? "here old man" waking to the clink of change muttering long winded angry poetry 'til the street sleeps and I disapear. |
