An Angel |

An Angel An Angel gives of all her being, her own wishes weigh as nothings. Never does she feel more serene then giving herself to those in need. Always seeing nothing but beauty in others, they are blind to perfection within themselves, for one who is vain can never be an angel, conceit cannot be borne by feathered wings. An Angel's heart is a delicate prism, easily shattered by malicious intent, but flawless and perfect in all its forms, the shards themselves lovely thorns. That is why angels are so rare today, so many devils intent on dealing them pain, forcing them to give till nothing remains, grinding crystal into sand watch it blow away. But there are a few who still can see these fiends working so fiendishly, intent on destroying angelic souls, merciless with their torturous tools. These few are all that stand in the way, a motley crew of unsure destiny. Deeply flawed mortals wrapped in sin, neither angels nor saints are they within. Lacking both armored might and weapons fair, their frail mortal forms all that they bear. Drawn to the agony of angelic beings, only thing in life which holds any meaning. Irony that only fallen souls bar the way of countless demons tearing hope away, leaving angels as mere myths of yesterday, memories of perfection lost in yesteryear. Still where there is resistance therein lies hope, they have not lost who may still win the day. So standing before you now I raise the call, let the perceivers of the world join us all. Protect those which are beyond all worth, though we have been unclean since our birth. Still they bring us joy with all their love, let us fight to protect these precious doves. A world without Cherebrim is but certain Hell, to give them up is to breath torment as well. If we fight for the only thing worth defending, we will die knowing we are headed to Heaven. The place where Angels finally find rest, their hearts mended by He who heals best. Angels are rarest gems in our own world, yet how abundant they are in the next! So once more I raise the battle cry, let the next replace me when I die, I for one rush to protect my Angel, perish all those who stand in my way! By Michael J Fessel Whenever a despairing angel passes by listening close you'll hear the tinkle of a thousand slivers of finest crystal. Sigh...I am sure no one will get this. But have fun trying! |

I may not get it in the way you intended but I get it in my own way. your poem will hold different meanings for those who read it. it reminds me of Dana, she's an angel and all those delicate people who others purposely hurt and tear apart. I would not say it reaminds me of my self because that is ridiculous. But it does remind me of how people purposely try to hurt me and of how I try to protect others. It is a very worthy poem. Good job. I don't know if today is a good day, or if yesterday was, or if tomorrow will be, but I'd like to think so. |

Littlewing, Ha ha, actually this is more of a tribute to those on earth who spend their life caring about others more than themselves, and who get torn apart in the process by others to selfish or greedy to do anything but use, abuse, and bleed them dry. I hate it and I know just such an Angel and I try my best to stop them from doing this to her, but its not easy. I feel sometimes like I'm one person up against the world, though I know I'm not. But your interpretation is much nicer Mike |

TeenPoet, Oh my you understood my poem completely!!! Yay! I didn't think ANYBODY would relate. It sounds like you are one of those people who perceive. And you know what, you kind of sound like you might be an Angel to me You Angels can never see it in yourself, can you? Mike [This message has been edited by MikeFessel (05-19-2003 11:23 AM).] |

Mike, You spoke of unconditional love here... Sorely lacking in our modern world... Often people that can find it are labeled in harsh ways...as unhealthy, because it is not understood. I tend to believe in it...and applaud it. Thankfully, there are angels among us... their wings are sometimes wrinkled, but they still manage to fly. Great write. TD |
