 Picture by Josephine Wall * * * I wrote this for a young poet named Karyn who I have been writing to. She has been suffering depression and I received a disturbing letter from her the other day which made me think that things were spiralling out of control and I felt I needed to do something to try and lift her spirits, so I wrote this. * * * I was troubled by your words As I read them on the page I imagined a frightened bird Who was trapped within a cage I admit I felt quite helpless For the miles kept us away I hope my feelings come across Through the words I now relay I cannot bring you sunshine Not even a pot of gold But there is something I can offer My hand for you to hold You know where you can find me And I will be right here for you I know one thing for certain Lots of love will get you through So when life becomes a burden And you think nobody cares Take a look over your shoulder And rest assured that I'll be there * * * "The source of love is deep in us and we can help others realise a lot of happiness. One word, one action, one thought, can reduce another person's suffering and bring that person joy" I am in motion |
