Power of the gun why can’t people just co-exist why are people so mean to each other what’s wrong with the world why can’t we just get along there’s so much fighting so much war so many people die and so many are innocent children trying to reach their terrified mothers bombs being dropped in civilian places so many tragedies everyday I turn on the news I hear of the fighting in India, in Mexico, in America, in Afghanistan Palestine and Israel the home of Jesus Bethlehem Blessçd Holy Grounds stained with innocent blood blood shed, spilled from young children why can’t the world just stop and see that all this fighting is proving nothing... But the power of a gun. “I am capable of creating evil, just as I am equally capable of creating goodness” –me never leave the light on if you don't want to be found |

Yes, it is a sad world at times and humans represent a savage and barbaric species. We are, I think, a thousand years from real peace, perhaps even longer. In the meantime the survivors most often will be those who have the resources to hide and those who are willing to choose to defend themselves and their families; to do so effectively. also most often means accepting the way of the gun. I have seen a lot of killing in my life, but I have never seen a gun that could pull its own trigger. Your poem is well done and states clearly the pain and the horror of which we are all so capable of inflicting on each other. |
