To Paint the Moss

Purple lupine needles
have stitched this carpet of mustard
to the hills    to the hills of fervent grass
coloring them a blanket

The hum is of day blue
marked by singing cloud of bees
hovering    amazed
buzzing above the ground
where all the rocks are fools
a-glitter with their mica

The Styrofoam cups gather in the corner lake
toasting the joy of some other Sunday
where floating laughed the children
and I see you for just a moment
in the movement of time in the skirts of grass
that tremble across the glade
then in the tempo of seconds when I touch the light
I feel your shadow cross the water
like one finger of wind it paints the moss
with a message I know is made from love
-----------
In loving memory of Michelle

I can hear
her Happy Day to my Mother
streaming 'cross the plains, now...

she loves you so much
and lives in everything, and everyone
you touch...

Martie...are my eyes deceiving me, or do I see the spot [lower left hand corner] where Michelle's finger has smudged the pond?  Hugs you....

Nope...  afraid that's a smudge on my camera lense ...the striations in the water, she did!

I know these couple of lines are but a small part of the poem but they gave me the coolest visual.  Bunch of bright white cups, bobbing among lily pads and filled with Kool-aid...(all the colors)...   or wild flowers!

unfortunately, Duncan, they were filled with nothing but the neglect of people who forgot to use the trash containers.  I'll bet they might have had Kool-aid in them once, before they were abandoned to float.

Well, our Michelle's finger is certainly all over this poem...whether in the striations, or on your lens, m'dear....she will never let us forget your love for her, or hers, for you.

Incredibly touching, Martie, and it says so much about you, that you would visit her on this day.

A mental toast to you, my friend.

the love is palapable in this....
it radiates from every last perfectly chosen word...we didnt need the pic...you painted it for us with your penstrokes...those first two verses of imagery leave me shaking my head at your immeasurable talent and as for the emotions...I smile at the level of high inspire and sincerety of heart that resonates from her to you, you to her..to your pen.
Happy Mothers Day sweets.

I may be a little late Martie but if anyone deserves a happy mother's day you do.
Your warm open poetic gift is lush with feeling in this piece.
Loved every word!!

Martie, there is so much love coming across in this. In fact, every one of your poems have that love mingled in...I guess I can just feel it more when I read the ones in memory of your Michelle.
Thank you so much, friend, for sharing your heart with us.

Martie...Not only was this poem moving; but it was uniquely written. You certainly painted the moss in my mind. What a beautiful and heartfelt tribute to Michelle.

I knew this one was going to be special from the moment I read the wonderful title... I just didn't know the pigment was love. *S* This is... it's... it leaves me speechless.
