I Wish My Love

I wish my love would pick for me a colorful bouquet,
And its sweet aroma would linger through the day.

I wish my love would pledge his devotion faithfully,
And whisper ever so softly in my ear I am his destiny.

I wish my love would recite verse of sweet romance,
And we spend the evening entangled in a lover’s dance.

I wish my love would devour me in passion and desire
And take us to a place in which we could go no higher.

I wish my love would sing for me a sleepy lullaby
And caress my face as we bid our night goodbye.

I wish my love would hold me through the dark night,
And prove his love still shines in the morning’s light.

Alas, my love hath giveth me this and so much more.
Together to heights seldom reached we often soar.
But it is only in my daydreams my love I doth find.
For you see, my love lives for me only in my mind.
