The sounds of the kitchen Seemed to fade as I remembered meeting her. A small gathering of people from work a few drinks and her. She came with another lady who worked in accounting and had captivated the men who were already into their third beer with a witty humor and her smile. I had retreated to a corner of the large table arranged to make sure everyone at least could set a glass and shout at the person sitting next to them over the noise of too many high spirits and too much booze. She entertained a while then slid into the chair next to me with a bend and twist that caused her blouse to gap and revealed the tops of breast encased in white lace. She saw me look, smiled, that smile of disarming charm and asked me my name. Her hand found my arm as she talked to me about nothing and everything then tightened when I asked about her, what she had done before corporate cables had wrapped themselves into her day to day. "Army" she said and raised her chin "I was a lineman for advanced units." "What's that mean?" I asked. "I climbed poles and strung wire, and have the scars to prove it." I chuckled and asked if the Army issued lace like she wore today? "No," she said "but I do like lace." "What do you know about lace?" she asked. "Some." I answered feeling my mouth go dry. "Want to learn more?" she asked, then laughed a smile with her eyes that told me I was going to learn more than I ever expected. ………………………… “Hey Buddy.” I heard Mike “What now?” “Dry those pans and hang them.” I answered “Then, I’ll buy you that beer Jean promised you on the old drunks tab.” I laughed, but thought of something A lot softer than the hard angled noise Now beginning to subside as all was again Put in order for the next morning. I thought of you Lilly. [This message has been edited by Cpat Hair (05-05-2003 09:00 AM).] |

This is excellent. This is your style all polished and graceful--I applaud in total admiration. This is art. (hmmm...I'll bet you could even make tacky Christmas decor appealing...heh heh--I should go back to sleep, huh?) sigh. |

Ron, again I must tell you how much I love your stories and they hold my interest right to the very end. And then I am looking for more ... Will there be more Lilly? Hugs, Marti Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts. A.Einstein |

smiling at this chapter... How well you write..loved all the part about Lilly and the army.."scars to prove it"..etc. She's something else, huh? she sat down with a "bend and a twist" well, at least she is not Lilly White...that would be a drag... and, yes, "a bend and a twist" just like your mind, always surprises.... Love these ..... |

"Want to learn more?" she asked, then laughed a smile with her eyes that told me I was going to learn more than I ever expected. *fanning as I try to lasso my thoughts and get them back in line* *G* Such a treat to read, Cap'n... I just wanted to keep turning the pages for more. *S* ROFL @ Toe... and why bother with the dishes at all? LOL |

Ron...What captures lily is the way we see her incongruities...like leather and lace, dust and roses...you make her so appealing, easily. You must write stories in your sleep...if you sleep? |
