Labyrinth of Emotion Emotions fade from inside out, Choked low beyond the fear and doubt; Too harsh to tread the distant past, Where mem’ries linger, long since cast. Without release, without relent, This seething brew of sentiment, Takes hold the inner core of wait, Beneath the host who guides their fate. What once was dear, no longer dwells, Within the vacant heart that swells; A home to harbor misery, In testament, for none to see. Though long abandoned, still they rise, Bereft of tears in hardened eyes; The years have faded, truth be known, Though anguish lurks through ashes blown. Afraid to see, afraid to feel, Unwilling to confront the real; Suppressed before they ever start, They simmer ‘neath a saddened heart. Alone, alone ... they wither deep, In silent quell of mem’ries keep; A buried want, a hidden cry, Entangled in the thoughts of why. /Kit McCallum |

Afraid to see, afraid to feel, Unwilling to confront the real; Suppressed before they ever start, They simmer ‘neath a saddened heart **************************************** They all need to visit in this home, then they won't be so sad, or at least not alone. Afraid to see, afraid to feel, Unwilling to confront the real; Suppressed before they ever start, They simmer ‘neath a saddened heart. There are several forms of escaping, and this is the one I always use - Hiding... Thanks for sharing this, Kit! _,,,^.^,,,_ |

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Kit, I know this labyrinth ever too well, sweet friend, that place where there is no safe place to put my hands and I am wandering aimlessly toward a horizon I'm unfamiliar with! (sigh) This is heartfelt, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kit, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton Underneath your clothes, there's an endless story |

Suppressed before they ever start, They simmer ‘neath a saddened heart. Just how true and wise is this - for it is there they swell. Alone, alone ... they wither deep, In silent quell of mem’ries keep; A buried want, a hidden cry, Entangled in the thoughts of why. And round and round they will go until the heart overtakes the mind Oh Kit, you are so wise, and parts of this I unfortunately related to so much for they linger on and catch my breath at times. Is it ever good to read your work again, and this is so different for you, but most enjoyable.

Dear Kit, lovely to be seeing some of your work again, I enjoyed this, we so often question why, it seems to invoke a challenge to our hearts to write of pain, even to this I don't know why, when saddened there appears to be a seed that blooms and hightens the will to share what we feel. Thanks for sharing these thoughts, I feel them often, so often write. Sincerely Rick |

Without release, without relent, This seething brew of sentiment, Takes hold the inner core of wait, Beneath the host who guides their fate. Maybe that's why many of us write... the pen is our safety valve... and we can spew feelings onto paper we couldn't acknowledge to another person for fear of judgment. This speaks on so many levels... and every one reaches the heart. *S* Wonderful write! |

Sunshine Thanks for the lovely words Karilea. I’m glad I was able to finally pick up the pen again for a moment of reflection too. Nan Thank you Nan … I think many of us have been here in some form or another. My weekend was full of “revisiting the past”, and this was the result I guess. It’s hard to go back in time (and yes … you need to write some more, my friend). Dark Angel Thanks so much Maree for the kind sentiments, I’m very appreciative. Seymour Tabin: You make me smile, Sy … Thank you for the delightful comment. Enchantress: I guess when I ponder, it’s best that it comes out on paper Nancy. Somehow, it helps to clear my mind. I’m grateful for that. Thank you. Janet Marie: Thanks for the anniversary wishes JM, and thank you always, for your uplifting comments gator-gal. You are always a "smile" to me. Love ya. Midnitesun: Pipsters and proud of it. Thanks so much for the wonderful comment Kacey, very much appreciated. Mon Cherie: Oh, I know the “hiding” plan well, Florence. I guess that’s where this piece comes from. Some day these emotions will be allowed to bubble up and escape. Thanks for understanding. Munda: Thank you for the kind words, Munda. I really appreciate hearing that. Poet deVine: I’m glad this came across as a bit of a change Sharon, and thanks for letting me know you enjoyed it. Much appreciated, my friend. Trillium: Thanks so much for the well wishes and lovely response Betty Lou. I’m so glad you stopped into Open and enjoyed the read. Many thanks. VAS: What a beautiful phrase Virginia “around the labyrinth they go, in perfect rhythm, though mournful, so”. I think that in itself is a full poem waiting to happen, just lovely. Duncan: Thank you very much for the anniversary wishes and for letting me know you enjoyed this Duncan. I’m very grateful. Jason Lyle: I’m glad you enjoyed this Jason, and thank you so much for letting me know. Hopefully, I’ll be able to find some more time to write more. I really miss it. Honeybee: What a lovely thing to hear. Thank you Melissa for letting me know. I really appreciate it. Martie: It’s always a pleasure for me to read you as well Martie. Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed this one. Edder: LOL … I love that, thanks Edder. Lisann: So true … I think many of us are “stuck in the wonder of why” from many vantages Lisann. I’ve wondered how you are doing, and hope all is well? GG: Thanks you so much for this encouraging comment Alyssa, I am very appreciative. Garysgirl: It came from my own experience, Ethel, so unfortunately I do know the answer to your question. I really appreciate your understanding and encouragment. Many thanks and hugs. Mistletoe Angel: You have such a lovely way of phrasing Noah “wandering aimlessly toward a horizon I'm unfamiliar with”. Thanks for letting me know you related my friend. Much appreciated. Mysteria: I’m glad to know you enjoyed this piece Sharon. I think you and I are more alike than we realize sometimes. Many thanks for understanding and being you. Rick: What a beautiful response Rick. I think you’ve summarized very well, how these types of words end up in poetic form to be shared. Thank you for this. Southern: I think you’ve touched on one of my favorite traits of Passions, Ruth. There is no fear of judgment here, and it’s a remarkable place to share sad thoughts as well as joyful. Thank you for the lovely comment. With much appreciation to all, /Kit |

Was feeling this way myself tonight, so came back for another read and to give you a great big hug too hoping to kinda console each other via cyberspace I guess? Kit, I saw your comment after I read your poem and commented, now how funny is that? [This message has been edited by Mysteria (05-08-2003 12:37 AM).] |

Ah, Kit, I'm sorry to see such sadness and despair drip from your pen....even though it drips in perfect cadence and style. Fortunately I know (I think) that it's just a poem....one of the things you do so exceedingly well |

This is so true... and sadly, so familiar. The days just disappear into dark, empty, continued memories of loss. You wrote of this so well I do hope it isn't from experience. Excellent rhyme, of course. You speak powerfully... Good to go back and read you. Always, Alyssa He was a man of sorrows |
