The Other Place Maybe once we could fold into each other and find another place beyond what we are, where there would be no measure only melting. I am one thought in time. The sea does not feel my toes dangling, the sun moves always into another daybreak, the turning world holds me to her for reasons of her own. That precious footprint cannot sustain itself, consumed by minutes it is gone. Maybe once we could find another way of knowing, glimpse beyond one separate thought find that other place where there would be no measure only melting. ----- 10-3-99 |

Oh Martie, After the first stanza, I thought this is it, this is the best this poem can possibly get... well, silly me...the entire poem is just so special and sensitive and no words to describe how incredible I find it, Martie, this one really touches me....so well written..timeless and universal... Thank you so much for sharing it. Hugs and love, Pat ![]() ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. "Desiderata" [This message has been edited by regards2you (05-02-2003 08:42 PM).] |

Maybe once we could fold into each other and find another place beyond what we are, where there would be no measure only melting. .....and what could be better, more worthy than to find such a place? You have a gift, Martie, a true gift. Thank you for sharing. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

I am one thought in time. The sea does not feel my toes dangling, the sun moves always into another daybreak, the turning world holds me to her for reasons of her own. I really don't have a favorite verse... this entire poem is pure perfection. *S* But I do love the perspective of these lines... and when I read how long ago it was written, I know the "seeing" of Martie's eyes isn't a new thing... but how it is treasured. *S* |

My God, Martie, this is amazing, so beautiful. I always feel at peace wearing 'Martie eyes.' I thank you for being a poet, I'm in awe of this. I deem this a keeper! Melissa Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world! |

I think you're approaching the same thought that I am with this Martie. In thinking about language, and the isness of 'what is' -- Derrida and Heidigger tickled something in my brain and then Whorf's (um, no not the Whorf from Star Trek) relativity of linguistics all sort of jelled at once... and I was thinking it's the words themselves (which are all metaphors - representations of something else - they are -- but they aren't) that keep us in the dark as we're attempting to understand what they mean. Pretty complicated plot to just say I miss somebody... but, um, poetry. |
