Where Beauty Lives

‘Tis said that beauty lives within -
yet the human form attracts the eye,
but ‘tis the soul that gives the form
its vibrant life; a joy; a cry.

beauty lives in the smile that casts a glow
Sun's rays will never cause to fade;
a glow that warms thru strife and woe,
and lights our path to a lucid glade.

beauty lives in every longing sigh
of yet untouched hopes and dreams;
and in each soulful look of eye,
where window of the future gleams.

beauty lives in the quiver of the lips
as deep longing stirs its secret potion;
and in a breath that quickens, as it skips
in surging waves of rising emotion.

beauty lives in the music of the voice,
as chords of love it fingers on our hearts;
awakens rhythms of the ocean waves,
as a flight of dove to freedom parts.

thus beauty lives within the soul
- for without soul, the form is dust;
it gives it breath; and life’s divine role
- else be picture on a wall; a marble bust.

A rhymed poem without twisted phrasing and impacted diction -- wonders never cease! I'll spot you the fifth strophe for that, my friend....
