It is in the night my mind becomes awake
The darkest hour of midnight
Opens a portal to my soul
Pure and innocent essence
Written in the shadow of candle light
With eyes that stare at a flame unseen
A world passing across heavy lids
Sown through the veins flowing out the fingertips
On to flawless paper
Dreams about an unparalleled reality
Incoherent thought
Like the incessant ramblings of a crazy woman
And yet; when written down
Perfect sense is made
Epiphany
Reality
Structure
Idea
Expression moving across the memory
While the hand scrambles to catch up
With everything the mind proclaims
An instant of recognition with something long lost
And then…
The blink of an eye
The flickering of the candle
And the world recedes into the background
As a new sun arises

This one was yet another one of those couldn't go to sleep so I just started writing in the middle of the night and this is what came out of it poems!
Please tell me what you think.

People always ask me why I don't look toward my future I tell them to many interesting things are happening today.

(smiles) Yay! Oh Bella, I too love to write midnight rambles, I do it quite a lot as I am scared of the darkness and therefore go to bed around 2 to 3 A.M and sleep late! (big hugggsssssss) I love how the dawn comes in at the end, yay, this ramble should be muttered deep in the text of this poetry book, my vote is in, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Bella, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

This is very nice.  Reminds me of one of the first poems I wrote in an attempt to be serious, which was about one in the morning being not quite morning but night, and so on.  Heh, I was something like eleven years old, so it wasn't as good as this or anything... just brings back memories.

I love how you wrote this, indeed the purpose of poetry is to capture that incomprehensible element of our mind and give words to it.  You've done that well here.  I especially like the ending.

Nicely written.

I like this and I also like when the idea came to you. Inspirations for a poem can happen at the most odd times, can't they?

This is a fabulous poem, I think when we least expect a masterpiece, that is when it happens as I see here your midnight masterpiece.

Why is it our mind catches up with us at midnight?  Joyce
