What of this!? It rose from the depths of hell Wrenching change in its path; Its target defenseless, Its victims hapless. There was no warning, No signal of its intent; Only despair in its wake. God may be in His heaven But all is not well with the world! Like a pall it descended, Enveloped and settled, Its victims struggling to uncloak; Theirs the future raped And theirs the stall in pain. Forbidding of hope, Sapping of strength And consuming of light. If God is in His heaven Are we beyond His care or reach? Within me, too, it worked its horror, 'Though mine was not the terror: Dashed beyond understanding, Numbed beyond doing And shocked beyond knowing My whole being felt its invading search Casting chaos in its wake. There is no magic that can undo, No words that can bring back! Who will retrieve the loss? Who can restore us again? And with that asking - it was felt; ..... a warmth so faint, ...... buried so deep ..... imperceptably present. Desperately I sought this ember To beg any radiating balm. My want had kindled it afresh To become a glowing coal And in time a warming place. Then with that comfort came the Voice With words of solace and peace Easing pain and lifting dread; And I knew I was not alone! My Valleyguide was here And I was not forsaken In the midst of Frenzy I could not see But as I turned He was there Not to remove but to companion, ..... to journey in the shadow ..... to huddle in the cold ..... to side in the onslaught. While the journey continues And the end is unclear, I am not alone! Indelibly branded the tragedy remains; But, I am not alone! Satan, reaping through human "angel", Has harvested destruction; Adam's line his tool in delinquent quest And in the fury of his failure he litters time and life ..... with pain and squalor ..... despair and blood ..... death and dishonour. This is the cauldron of my being, With its sorrow and pain, Amid friendish gifts of joy and delight And the balms of love from His hands. By These hands is my fashioning And in These hands I am gentled and held; By Companion and Friend. All may not be well with the world But God is in His heaven and I need not fear! God bless and keep you, Namaste! Boh [This message has been edited by Bohemianaus (04-04-2003 10:05 PM).] |
