When I was but a child, my favorite fairy tale of all
Was one that had a magic mirror hanging on the wall
When asked,it spoke to she who looked, and of her value told
This magic mirror, with it's truth, was worth much more than gold...

To this young heart there could not be a more impressive tale
I longed to have that mirror's words, when all my efforts failed
So wish I did, with all my might, that mirror would appear
A simple wish from tender heart, a wish that Fate would hear...

Many are the mirrors I have held throughout my past
And many secrets whispered into silent waiting glass
But now I realize the magic I had longed to see
Was always there, though buried deep, within the soul of me...

So - mirror, mirror on the wall - your magic now I hold
My own reflection gazes back, and from my depths I'm told
That nothing is impossible, if one can conquer doubt
The magic lies within your heart, just waiting to come out!

Hi Liz, and thank you!!  Well, at my age, you gotta have optimism when you look in the mirror!!!  Seriously, though, mirrors can tell us a lot about ourselves...thanks again!

Oh, no! Not again! I can't believe this! Remember when you posted "Two Faces" just as I was about to post my own "Two Faces"?!?
Well, you've done it again! The next poem that I was now about to post is "Mirror, Mirror"!!!!---and there are lines in it that are similar to yours as well! We must be connected some how! Well, one thing is for certain, "Great minds think alike!"

(giggles in delight over Linda's comment) Hehehe, that is because the both of you have angel blood and so you both think alike, yay! (giggles) Yay, this is such a beautiful uplifting poem, sweet friend, I believe one should always feel special when looking in the mirror as you can always be the princess of your castle, yay! (kiss on cheek) This has my vote, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sunnyone, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Hi Linda, and you know, I think you're right! I mean, what are the chances of two poets thinking up the same thing at the same time???  Maybe we should get together on this!  Oh, this is great....just goes to show how unpredictable life can be!! Thank you!

Hi Noah, and thank you, lil bro! I'm beginning to think that Linda and I have some connection, too!  Your replies are always so very nice....I'm glad you always pay me a visit!!

Hi Charisma! and yes, I think a lot of us share 'mirrored' feelings!! Thank you, my friend, and it's always a pleasure to meet you here at the round table!!

Another triumph of style and theme.  Although the content of this poem wasn't as impressive to me as your first submission, I still very much enjoyed reading it.  You have a lovely way with words, and one that no doubt deserves a place in Reflections.

This is so true and very well written. Mirrors come in all forms and some of their messages can be so damaging. We have to be careful that we acknowledge the true reflection and we do have control over that at least. If you don't mind, I would like to use this with some of my students - please let me know if that's ok. Got my vote.

God bless and keep you, Namaste!

Hi WhiteRose, and so glad you enjoyed this read!!!!  Thank you!!

Hi suthern...thank you for stopping in, and your nice reply...it's appreciated!!

Hi Local Parasite, and I appreciate your honesty.  I don't believe a poet should set themselves into any one style, as it will stagnate them.  Writing is like any other art, such as music....in that the reader/listener hears or sees the work in their own particular way.  That is the essence of art.  Thank you!!

Hi Lost Dreamer, and I thank you for your kind words!!!!

Hi Bohemianaus, and feel free to use this...that would be an honour.  Yes, I agree about reflections, and also think that what we see in the glass is a direct link to how we feel about ourselves.  Thank you!!!!

Hi JP, and your vote is most welcome here...thanks!!!!

Hi Charisma, and smile accepted!!!!  Thank you!!

(Sorry this set of answers to your replies took a few days, but I do appreciate hearing from you all, and want to thank you for your support...it means a lot!!!  ~S~
