Some things I have taken for granted: 1. Waking up to the smell of perking coffee instead of the smell of fresh smoke of a bomb 2. Being awoke by the sound of my alarm and NOT the sound of a siren alerting war. 3. Wandering with half-opened eyes to the living room, turning on my television and having freedom to watch the news of the war. 4. Knowing that IF I disagree, I can speak openly without fear of my life. 5. Living my life knowing that my country's leaders are aiming to PROTECT me-not use me. 6. People I have never met, and will never meet, are fighting for MY freedom and MY safety. 7. I can come home and know that no one is hiding in my house. I do not have to lie to the enemy because my government is coward. 8. I can eat my food and know that my government is not going to invade my home and kill my family as an act of war. 9. I can know that my children, my young children and adolescents are not going to be used as weapons or soldiers. 10. I can go to bed at night and close my eyes because I Know that when I wake up, I will still have ALL of these things. [This message has been edited by KristieSue (03-20-2003 03:08 PM).] |

Kristie, we all have a list of those things we take comfort in. It's a shame that some people in the world today do not have these things. A reason to be grateful, yes. And a reason to keep those who do not have these things, and may be waking up to the sounds of war, in our hearts, in our thoughts, and most assuredly in our prayers. Now click the submit button so I can vote. [This message has been edited by WhiteRose (03-20-2003 03:29 PM).] |

WR~ I agree wholeheartedly in keeping those who do not have these freedoms in our prayers. I will post something in the lounge regarding the war. Unfortunately, for many, it takes war to reach that point. I didn't submit it because I didn't think it truly a poem, but if you say :-) Thanks! All those things are very true...and nice to think about, instead of all the bad things. Thanx for the uplift. ^^ Blessed Be Thee! Stephanie Every heart has hidden treasures...a secret wish, a silent dream, and a cherished love. [Unknown] |

It is so easy to get stuck in the rut of thinking of everything that is against us. I just had to take a moment and appreciate the great freedoms of being an American.... thanks all for your thoughts and replies :-) |

(big huggggsssssss) So very true, dearest friend, no nation is perfect and America truly is one of the more blessed nations, yet this nation still has a lot of sorting out to do and I hope the freedom we once knew comes back and replaces this new versimilitude of it! (sigh) You have my vote, dearest friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kristie, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you!
