Within my heart you’re still that little one
Who needed me each step along the way
From golden dawns through settings of the sun
From lullabies to toddler lost in play
From learning ABC’s to feisty teen
Asserting independence, stretching wings
To soar, discovering before unseen
Horizons in the distance beckoning
My fledgling from the safety of the nest
Fulfilling destiny but how I long
Again to wrap you in protectiveness,
To shield you from the bad, the sad, the wrong.

The shape of you is etched indelibly
Upon this mother’s soul eternally.

~

To my daughters, Caroline and Trisha, with love.

Just about covers everything that a loving, caring mother can see in and wish for her child. The tone of loving and caring together with the competent handling of the technical aspects makes this poem a worthy candidate for inclusion in the anthology.

A parent's enduring and constant love shines forth in these endearing lines my friend.  Where else to experience the depths of love than in the lives of our children.  Very well done.
