~* West Coast Beauty *~

The West Coast of Canada is beauty's own
With towering mountains, and endless skies.
Nature's colors riot, species of animals enchant,
As warm breezes of a prodigal summer never dies.

Our tall cedar trees sway a light ballet,
As a breeze whispers down a forest path.
The sea itself waltzes into the shore,
Then lazily ebbs out again in sun's bath.

The raging sea snarls at her tired shores,
Biting away as it crumbles the land.
Wind swept trees, so gnarled and tough,
Bend their boughs, but defiantly stand.

Out in the west, there are sounds and scents,
Colors so rich to the eye we must boast.
Every day of life is offered up as a gift
While nature continues to be our gracious host.

Forest greens against the mountain snow;
Sing of the springtime it now began to weave.
Once naked branches show life renewed,
As the magic of spring is being conceived.

My home can be gray, and so dismal with rain.
We're relieved, when spring does appear.
Glad to be free to just sit by the shores,
Soaking up sun by the ocean we hold so dear.

If I sound proud when I speak of my home,
It is because it is here I'll always stay,
Surrounded in beauty day in and day out,
I only live once; I'd have it no other way!

Personal Photo ~ Tram on Grouse Mountain behind my house, taken one day when Nan was here visiting.

Sharon,
You make me home sick for the northwest. I'd love to be a closer neighbor but my wife can't handle the weather! Such an excellent write. And here's a vote to put my money where my heart is.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I am so glad this came to me before this ended, as it is really hard to figure what to put in here, your friends, family, your feelings, your home?  This is a true story, I used to come every summer to stay with an Aunt and Uncle, and one summer I came when I was old enough to make that decision, and never went home.  I left everything behind for what lay ahead, and I have never once been sorry or looked back.  You have made my day liking this.

Bill, now you know how I feel about this place right?  Kit is coming in March and I am going to dazzle her socks off!

Thanks everyone.

I remember when I was living in the San Juan Islands.  I was 8 miles from Victoria.  I would lay on the beach and just stare across the 8 mi. of ocean into B.C.  It was incredible and amazingly peaceful.

Great portrayal of something so beautiful...

Maureen - It is the mountain air, how clean it is, and crime free I guess that makes this city what it is, hope you get to see it one day.

KristieSue - Ah yes, San Juan Islands are paradise that is for sure, and the beaches there are increidble as well for miles just surf and sands.
