My heart remains broken
I can't seem to move on
If I could just hate you
It would be much easier

The reality is you don't love me
The way I love you

It doesn't make you a bad person
You did nothing wrong

If you had cheated
Or lied
Or treated me badly
Moving on could come quicker

If I could just hate you
This love could fade

Why do you have to be so good
So kind
So tender
Even now at the end

Why can't I hate you
For breaking my heart
On that fact alone
I should be able to place blame

If you weren't so perfect
If every moment together not been so magical
I could move on
I could put the pieces back together

I wish I could hate you

A lot of emotion in your first posting. I read your reply after I posted your welcome and I felt the same way a year ago, and I am full of confidence now in what I try to do, and hope you will be too. You did not put your email on your profile so I could not send you the usual surprise we send, but am glad you found us in any case and know you will enjoy it here.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I was a little nervous posting since I've never considered myself to be a poet, writer, or even have a speck of the arts running in my blood -- until I found this site and was reminded of all the 'documents' I have stored on my computer that I've written to myself over the years.

Everyone here is so talented. I hope I can contribute a small fraction of the wonderful things I'm reading here!

I think this is a great first poem.
The subject matter has not been covered. You worte this well, and it is so difficult to have found the one we want so much, and there is no fault anywhere, just not meant to be....

I have news, though, this kind of acceptance is much easier (hard, yes) but easier for when we are thrashed by someone we love, it hurts so much more, for not only must the relationship end, we left feeling less than, too often. Much deeper anguish.

Enjoyed and glad you found us, for I am sure glad you posted this new angle on lost love.

Very nice. Be grateful that you don't 'hate' it is such a life wasting emotion and doesn't affect the hated one only the hating one.
