upon rainbow seas,
he planted lollipop trees,
sometimes straying outside the lines,
his cows didnt have enuf room to roam,
he'd say,
and teacher smiled,but said redo,
as his coloring book would come home,

l6 years round the circle,
today the "gifted"writer needs to use
the "F" word ,
for some needed emphasis,
for high school lit,
and the soccer mom is called to school,
pleading his case, for "art's" sake,
as the vice principal tells her to go home,

so gather those A's my  "gifted" son,
for NYU, at $38k a pop,
cause Mama was born
with just a plastic spoon,
so a scholarship will need to await you,

and a few blocks down on  Soho streets,
the galleries draw in the masses,
with bronze statues
of women with l2 pair of tits,
with urine,and feces swiped on the saints,
and the critics acclaim
the kindergarten rebels,
so what price art,
and when is it okay
for mama to tell her son
"do your art,
dont  sell your soul
or compromise",
for a golden ticket

Goodness, there are a lot of emotions written in this one.
Is he really planning to go to NYU? I was just wondering because my grand-daughter is planning to go there. She wants to major in "dance". She plans to open her own dance studio in the future. She's had this dream most of her life.

yes, i know, its close to NJ tho, so the prince could still come home now and then and bring his laundry to mama
i lived my teenage years
down there, it is overpowing, but the city has a lot to offer him

It's not easy being an artist, I don't envy them. Having to deal with the fine lines between artistic cause and selling your soul just to be heard or seen. A line some couldn't handle. But then some never had a soccermom as brilliant in her own write, to support them.
