Christmas: At Our Best

Fruited harvest days pass by as light
Casting phantom blue aura
Once vibrant green fades to washed out auburn
Now, softly feather-dusted in virgin white
Winter, again proud with burgeoning child of Spring
Sweeps like blanc-cold spray-paint of tranquillity
For it is Christmas Time:
Each day a Sunday of reverence
Each thought of gifts of remembrance
A benevolence set forth from childhood.
Softened sounds of joy, love and voice
are sprinkled gaily, liberally on rainbow hopes.
Flushed with spirit, soothing weary sin,
'Tis a time of inner growth.
It is then, as deeds are freely given
that we are, in-deed,
mankind
at our very best.
