You leave foot prints in the sand, As you walk two velvety steps ahead. Your voice carried on the sea’s breeze Is not even noticed by the palms trees’ dead. Really I should pay you some attention, For you will be soon asking for my views. Oh, but it flows by my ears like prattle, I’m much more absorbed in the array of blues. Sun’s anger reflects off your brown skin, Still gleaming wet from a Caribbean Sea dip. You turn around n’ face me with jovial eyes, Walking up I place my left hand around your hip. “Hayden, do you think that is fair?” Those words are sure to expose my daydream. Thinking about it for a birds breath, I reply… “From all that you’ve said, yes. It would seem.” Dam, it didn’t work, my guilt lays bare. The look on your face leaves me without clue. You didn’t even ask me this time, So that I’d say, “Yes, I was listening to you.” My poetry is at: http://www.thehayden.org |

LOL at this one. A familiar ringing in my ears. Yes, of course I was listening. |

I could see how surrounded by the beauty of the sea, that perhaps you would become distracted...I'd find it hard to concentrate in the same situation. But, men are notorious for hearing only what they wish to hear or not listening at all sometimes...never a plus in a relationship. By they way, loved the visual this poem conjured in my mind |
