A Christmas Wish

Here’s a Christmas wish I’ve saved for you
I wrapped it in ribbons of pretty hue
I’ve sent it with love straight to your heart
And told it that it must n’er depart

This Christmas wish has to stay with you
Until the day that time is through
I’ve charged it with love to keep you warm
Whenever the dark clouds begin to form

A Christmas wish to hold close each day
To steady you when things go astray
To show you the sun when clouds near
And to keep away all spectres of fear

Take this wish and hold it tight
It will guide you with a light so bright
When the day seems dimly overcast
It will make it so the clouds don’t last

This Christmas wish comes to you from me
Its light will make your soul happy
It carries within the warming trace
Of happy thoughts and my smiling face

This Christmas wish that I send today
Brings thoughts of joy and hope your way
Receive the wish let it settle in you
May it make your dreams and hopes come true

You are in your element at Christmas Time, for in your writing you prove you closer to God than most, nearer to the heart of all Man than almost all, and part of the answer to the question of what should we feel in our souls toward our fellow man.
