My Little Dream
By Larry Chadwick
In memory of my daughter Ginger Michelle

I’d like to dream a little dream,
That would bring you back to me.
And I need not change a thing,
About the way things used to be.

It’s just that I am missing you,
And want you here with me.
But if I could dream a little dream,
It would be enough for me.

My memories have not faded,
And my love it has not waned.
It’s just that now you’re gone,
My life has really changed.

So just let me dream a little dream,
Of how things used to be;
When I could hold you close,
And say how much you mean to me.

My heart is certainly broken,
It needs patching at the seams.
But I have the perfect cure,
I’m going to dream a little dream.

December 20, 2002

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

The memories dont fade...and the love wont wane...but in time the pain lessens and the traces left behind hold us close and allow us to touch the warm...this I promise.
The first holidays are hard..they mark time that seems to move so slow...but they also make us realize that we have so much to be grateful for as well. But then I know, you already know this my oh so wise poet pal.
big heart-hugs to you and your family Larry.

Larry - What a touching poem and what a beautiful picture. It's like the Christmas song says, "if only in my dreams." I think most of us who have lost a loved one, dreams of being with them once again. You are a gentle, caring man, who has been through much. I wish you only pleasant dreams and blessings of the season. Chris

Dearest Sue,
And even more bunny hugs back to you. Thank you for sharing and I'm sorry about your Aunt Sue, even though it has been a long time. Peace and courage to you. Merry Christmas.

Noah,
Thank you for always being so kind and tender. I am not writing much poetry lately. And when I do my heart is drawn to them both again. It is then that my emotions run deep. Rather nice to know how strong the bond inspite of the pain. Thanks.

Vicky,
Awww yes. My grandma and I were very close. Nice to recall such fond memories. Thank you. Merry Christmas.

Sue,
Thanks for your understanding. Hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Larry, sending a big hug to you and your family. I can't even imagine how difficult this Christmas will be for all of you.

You are in my thoughts and prayers and how I wish Santa could bring back Ginger and your Dad. Hold onto the Christmas memories you have of both of them and know for sure, they are with you in spirit.

Days move quickly. Years even faster.
Tears flow. Hugs glow. Smiles continue to light up a room.

Right now the holidays are brimming and her classroom was glowing last friday. I could FEEL her in the room. Like she wanted us to know she was there.

Memories are quick to mind. And Here we are and we'll soon see her too. Godbless her and may all have a merry christmas.

Larry this poem was very sentimental. I was in tears reading it. You have been so positive in this trial of pain and sorrow. YOu deserve to dream more than a little dream. You should dream a gigantic dream.

You sweet thing! I have no idea about the Christmas thing. I just know when I try to write poetry that is usually what comes out. I find the topic unworthy of fighting. Anyway, Merry Christmas and thank you for such kind thoughts.
