What is a friend I said to the darkness
but no answer did the darkness speak

the dark a void
that I myself could never fill
a wall, a tower that had shown no hope

I wandered along alone and scared
for I am afraid of the dark

then a shimmering light
illuminated the night
and came closer
till I could feel the candle's heat
against my face
then I knew for once
I was not alone

we havestumbled on together
helping each other
to find the way
now the room seems to brighten
with each passing day

you have brought light to part of my heart
where darkness lived before
you are more special then you'll ever know
for you have stolen a part of my heart
forever more

So now when I ask what is a friend
I know you were the one
my heart was longing for.
