Inspired by your statement of when we will ever learn, Nan

When will we ever learn?
It has been argued that as long as we are
in this condition
there will be no release from the cycle
of those who predicate peace
yet wave war-heads behind their backs
man's duplicity is inherent, many say.
Humanity can keep this duality to itself
yet I have to watch as new conflicts spawn
out of old ones
and see enemies that once fought become allies
only to unite and pitch their efforts
against others, against others
little do they see they sew the seeds
of resentment and anguish for lack of better ways
than destruction and decimation.
The world has not gone 'crazy'
it has always been this way
critics will chirp
there have always been conflicts
and man has escaped somehow, somewhere
but still we have not learned...
this cannot go on forever.

The world is not a static planet...politics blended with human nature insures a state of constant unrest...we can only hope that we learn how to control ourselves...well written..

believe in what your heart feels...

I echo your sentiments and have asked the same questions--but you have done it far more eloquently!

Scorpio,

thanks for your insight, I laud the unrest, it goes hand in hand with the changing times
and political swings, as you suggest...but its our ability to keep from destroying everything that troubles me.

Eric,

I suppose you're write about he power of the pen..and it's keeping ourselves in check as Scorpio stated tbat's the key because we only have ourselves as our worst enemy...it's this overhanging shadow of doubt whether there will there be a decisive change in the Middle East for the better that bothers many of us I think.
