Meet your neighbors on planet Earth. Read the news and views from another country. Open your eyes and see there are more friends than enemies that share your neighborhood, Mother Earth. You know in your heart that WE does not mean just US. Myopia blinds us all to the truth. WE are ONE. Read what others say and do. It may comfort you. http://www.arabnews.com/Article.asp?ID=22589 Edict forbidding attacks on non-Muslims reassures expats By John R. Bradley, Managing Editor JEDDAH, 7 February 2003 — Western expatriates have welcomed an edict issued by the Kingdom’s Council of Muslim Scholars forbidding attacks anywhere in the world on non-Muslims, who the edict said should not be randomly judged as “infidels”. The edict comes in the wake of advice given to Westerners by many embassies here to prepare for a swift exit should the US go to war against Iraq in the next few months, as is widely predicted. Although there have been no reports of expatriates preparing to leave, dinner parties in residential compounds are buzzing with rumors about how Westerners may be vulnerable to random attacks by disgruntled radicals who are against the war. “The council declares that... what is happening in some countries from the shedding of innocent blood and the bombing of buildings and ships and the destruction of public and private installations is a criminal act and against Islam,” Al-Riyadh daily said, quoting the statement by the council, which interprets Islamic laws in the Kingdom. “Those who carry out such acts have deviant beliefs and misleading ideologies and are responsible for their crime... Islam and Muslims should not be held accountable for their actions,” the statement added. (continued) American Dick Wasner, who works at a petrochemical company in Jubail, said that “suicide attacks elsewhere, and attacks on Westerners here, will hopefully decrease as a result of the edict. We feel safer on hearing this news.” German Werner Grehardt, a consultant in a national company in Alkhobar, said that the edict should go some way to “closing the gap between Muslims and non-Muslims.” *************** May ripples of LOVE |

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Kacy, I couldn't agree with you more, sweet friend, I have a love for many cultures in the world, in fact I love Arabic culture very much and much of my poetry as of late has had an Arabic twist to it, with tarbiahs and belly-dancing and pumpkin and lamb soup, etc. (sigh) This is such a relief, I hope this can grow on without disruption and bring Muslims and Non-Muslims in harmony long last, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

It's very depressing when you think of how much is done out of misunderstanding and how little is done to alleviate that misunderstanding. Thank you for posting this. - Jaime Shiva went on break now look at how much it's gonna take to make this place a space where we can breathe. |

Noah and Jaime, thank you both for reading this. I know it isn't very poetic, but the poetry of Love includes understanding the ways of the heart. My heart beats with LOVE for all of humanity. It IS my poetry. |

Edicts are only good for those who respect the law. They are totally worthless if they are not obeyed. When the law fails crime prevails. It would be nice if all acts of violence was outlawed. The evil person has no need for laws. paladin |

Yes, but I don't believe most of the people on the planet are out to get us, and doubt you feel that way too. Those who hate obviously don't care about the hearts of the individual, and that goes for all the world's citizens who do not respect or appreciate the variety of viewpoints and lifestyles on Earth. I thank you, as always Paladin, for being a man of conscience and honor. |

These edicts are a good start...but change takes time and only affects those willing to change...James |

Yes, James. Every step towards Peace requires a foundation of understanding, a knowledge that we all share the Earth for a such very short time that we really shouldn't be wasting ourselves by fighting. Thanks for visiting with me tonight. Namaste. Peace. |

There is one use someone "evil", as you put it Paladin, has for laws; as a measure. There should be a psychology of feet. For do we not make decisions with our legs and walk about on our brains? What do you mean "No, not really"? |

Indeed. Singapore is a multi-racial country too and I am embarrassed when I think that I am having dinner with a Muslim this Sunday--my first in my entire life. but I guess we have to start somewhere huh? and i'm glad that our paths (those of me and my Malay friend) did cross... |

Ray, HUGGING YOU for that. Triska...hello, and welcome to Pips. Thank you for reading. Kaile, why in the world would it embarrass you? Is it because it is the first time? Maybe if everyone on earth spent at least one full day a week with someone of a different culture, religion, political or socio-economic background, we wouldn't be so quick to threaten and fight. Don't know if that would stop some people though. As some have said, there are people who just have to spit, slap, fight, and kill anything that doesn't appear to be a clone of themselves. |

'WE does not mean just US. Myopia blinds us all to the truth. WE are ONE.' The simple, poetic truth of it. Thanks Jiminy. |

Welcome, Dunc. Sheesh, it's getting pretty bizarre on this planet. I'm in the market for a good used spaceship...preferably one with all its tiles in place. Damn, that sounded morbid. It must be I don't feel well when I see the color orange. My high school graduation class colors were tangerine and white. Disgusting. |
