On Christmas morn she woke to find
there were no presents under tree.
Money was used to pay the bills.
That is the way of poverty.

Though sad and tearful that she was,
into her room small Katie went
and found what she was looking for,
her piggy bank, so much it meant.

She’d saved changed for more than two years
and mama needed it today.
She wrapped the bank, tied on a bow.
Through tears, her mother had to say,

“Dear Katie, don’t you even know?
You are my gift each Christmas morn.
You are my heartbeat and my breath,
have been since the day you were born."

While Katie’s mother held her close,
she gave her mom a Christmas kiss
and though no gifts were under tree,
this Christmas day found happiness.

what more can u ask from a poem than for it to make u read it over & make u "Pause in thought" about it's subject & reflect .. this one make me realise that of course the most valuable gift of all is inside us all & is priceless .. loved it .. thanks
