All I know is that she was tried
then considered innocent
paid through the nose for a 'good' lawyer,
her conscience would repent
was released from prison, then set free again
haunted that her name no longer made headlines
conscious prison sojourn meant a morbid deadine.

She paid heavily for that costitutional right
to be represented
she would pay for her dignity, not to be resented
to be accused of cold blooded treachery was unreprehensible
she would get her husband to buy justice
the lawyer knew how the jury verdicts could be thwarted
no trouble convincing them of her innoncence
after all she was about to be a convent girl
but got swept up in a land of booze
fast entertainment and sleazy suitors.
even had to deal with con-artist tutors....

It was her right to be represented
see her name again in lights
after all she was no criminal
she meerly 'defended' herself
to defend her unborn child
so that she could move away from the tinsel,
the entertainment land of perdition....
This was the lawyer's rendition.

In actual fact
the truth developed slack
she was just one of many washed up entertainers
trained to weasel themselves free of penitentiary containers
and it was through the matron of the jail
that jail bird starlets saluted and hailed
a system as corrupt as any correctional center could afford
there lay a heinous system of 'pay to be released'
and a fabrication of woven lies
All under the auspices of a 'good' lawyer.

They had a choice, either pay to be released..
or decay behind bars and become deceased.
