All or Nothing

To know yourself and your beliefs
This is the path to perfect peace
Each footstep tread with strength and grace
And purpose to its steady pace

It’s all or nothing that commands
The way we handle life’s demands
Convictions point the certain way
And doubts confuse the brightest day

We cannot love with half a heart
Nor sip and taste the sweetest part
Unknowing of the total sum
Of flavor left upon the tongue

Commitment to a moral code
Is worthless on just half a road
The trestle quivers from a knee
That trembles with uncertainty

To know yourself and your beliefs
This is the path to perfect peace
But restless for eternity,
The spirit with a trembling knee
