Sometimes I look at his
face and his eyes, seemingly so
tired and full of regret, and I
wonder if he ever thought
that he wasn’t good enough
of a man

I wonder if maybe he ever thought
he should have been wealthy, and
on planes all over this world
I wonder if maybe he thinks
those things would make him
successful

I tell him about my own dreams
because he seems to believe them,
Yet with the kind of reservation
that comes with knowing defeat
And I wonder if he’s thinks that
it’d be terrible for me to turn out
like him

I’m leaving in four months
Away from my family, from any
ties I once had to my childhood
and I feel like I should go into
his office and tell him
what I’ve always known -

That I think that he’s a damn good man

I really enjoyed this, Jaime...sweet and sentimental in the best way possible. Nicely written as well; obviously from the heart -- thanks for sharing.

I don't normally write like this (sentimental, sweet, mushy, etc), but this has been something on my mind for a while.

Thanks for reading.

(PS - I changed my reply to your poem because I reread it and realized what a shmuck I am. Sometimes it's hard for me to get past the word 'love' without a biased sneer, you know what I mean?)

A touching write Poetess Jaime.

Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.
We fell them down and turn them into paper that
we may record our emptiness.

I can't tell you anything off the top of my head that such a man would want to hear more..or that would stay with him longer.
