For Senior Professor Milton Rich They wanted to make him Departmental Head. "Think of the challenge," they offered "Who the hell wants a challenge," was all that he said, And laughed at the money they proffered. When they pencilled him in for Honors Symposium He was offended once more: "I tell you that I have had Honors ad nauseum. I want to even the score." "Sign me up for the deadheads, the incoming fools Of Remedial English '01', At least they're creative; I'll give them the tools. It's time that professing was fun!" I knew this guy! His actual comment was a bit more colorful: "Who the hell wants to be challenged allatime? I just want things to go along smooth, and do what I live for around here. I'd rather teach the worst boneheads you've got than run this popstand!"

Well - I've taught the entire spectrum myself... As nice as it is to have a bright student soak it in like a proverbial sponge... It surely is sweeter to have the remedial learner say, "OH - I GET it!!"... The professor professes proficiently... |
