Sunlight on old brick Lightens the shadows Of narrow streets. Last nights cold Seeping away The clap of shoe leather Sets the beat for music. Tunes played in soft colors Of faded paint on an old sky And wrought iron trills Set on balcony where Morning coffee adds A counterpoint To sleepy eyes. Someone Played a symphony of grass In manicured notes that jive While another Waltzed columns white Then I heard the blue notes Of an old black mans smile And could not stop myself From an answering echo. I felt the sonata played By lapping edge of levee As it soothed the passing flow And found myself awash In clefts Shoe leather Keeping always Beat with time |

oh my. I read this with Mozart playing--and I think I left my body. (not a bad deal these days ) I wanna keep this one too... and I realized too, after I read, and thought, "I wish I'd been there"--that I just was...so thank you. |

Ron, I would have quoted the exact lines which SEA did. Also, though I've watched documentaries with camera not missing 'a beat', your writing is sooooo good that the sound comes through this poem so much better than the real audio....such talent; you put me there listening to the shoes, et al. Enjoyed a great deal. Thank you, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Ser... glad you liked...and glad it made you feel as if you had been there. ATOV... thank you for the kind words. It is always pleasing to know someone enjoyed what you wrote...and it pleases me to know you did. Nancy... buy a ticket and go! just be careful she lets you come back ( smiling) she seems to want to capture you and keep you or a part of you once you are there. SEA.. nothing to be amazed about or by my friend... I just hack away at the keys and write top of head stuff... you are kind to think it worthwhile to read. Pat... you are truly kind.... thank you. JM... your mothy mind got the picture just about right...a little older perhaps and a little more wear on the edges...but the style..the style is indeed just that.. you dear lady..are far too kind with your praise... but I thank you anyway |

Sunshine.... glad you liked that.. Inked... hmmm...could write one about Mexico, been there on the coast, but the islands are tougher..they have a flavor all their own and steel drum rythms to capture garish color.. I'd have to think about that and change the wording patterns to carry the warm breeze and easy nights.. now see there...you have me thinking about it anyway.. ( laughing) |

I've smoked a symphony of grass on Bourbon Street...then drank a bunch of Jax beer, then asked some bartender why her breasts were so small....yep...Mardi Gras! |

(chuckling) Toe... I think you and I would enjoy seeing it together...of course it might be a while before we got out of lockup. Police down there don't seem to have near the sense of humor the crowds do.. |

Forgot to ask, did you happen to see Jillian Barberie while you were there? |

Honest truth Hair...All of the above is true....in fact....at the same bar, when the bartender took offense to what I'd said, (not that I blame her), I asked her if she was a lesbian and if she yodeled in the valley with the waitress....After I left that bar unexpectedly, I headed over to Pat Obrien's...drank some Hurricanes...threw up all the way back to the Monteleon Hotel and watched the gals on the balconies...ya wanna meet me there in a few weeks? (smiles) Yay! I would love to see historic Storyville and hear some folk play some old Jelly Roll Morton tunes down there, New Orleans is a delightful city to me, I love it, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ron, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..." |

Thank all... appreciate the comments and kind words.. Toe... you know I don't speak english well..and you go throwing french/cajun at me.. ( chuckling) but yes..let the good time roll.. Now..as for meeting you down there. I have a problem... I went down on business and scheduled the trip a month in advance, reminded my bosses, told them the Monday before I left again....and when I got back..they were asking me where I had been...and next time I needed to make sure I was around when there were problems. ( which there were and which I fixed from my Hotel room using a laptop) (laughing)... anyway... I think I am grounded for a while.. and won't be making any trips... it did finally get them to OK the request I had in to add a backup person to my dept so someone could troubleshoot issues while I was away..or asleep..or in case I got hit by a bus...or thrown in lockup.... It will probably be a while before they let me out and about again... |
