if one wish could be granted tonight
may it be to find the words
to capture every moment
indeed the very essence
of the boundless love within my heart
many a countless night I have spent
shedding tears of pure joy
tears never shed once until she came into my life
I lie here, savoring each and every moment
feeling my heart burst with the love
for whom I searched for so long
the woman who will forever hold my heart
still wishing, hoping, praying that I may find the words
to truly speak of this overwhelming feeling inside
so that she may know how she makes me feel
and how the once lonely shadow found the light
that only she could bring to him
hopefully, I'll find the words soon enough

I agree. Allow her to read the words in your poem. There is no more effective way of saying I love you than by saying that words cannot express it.
