She found her lover
Dancing in narrow street
Exposing flesh to any who would
For a few baubles reward
The brazen

Her dress now but worn
tattered patches
Dyed again in other hues
Resembling shadow
To hide age marked skin
That cannot compare
To her lovers’

Pride
Without dignity

Carnival
Without depth

Bacchus rules her bed
with Coarse grope
Leaving bruise on once fair
That has grown thin
And spotted with age

Raping
The ghosts of long dead
Who would rest in their stone
But by contract now must rise
And entertain

Now with each day
She dons another gown
And adds a feathered mask
Hoping the gay light
Will laugh away eyes
That might see her shame

You have captured
Lady Orleans with a fair hand,
and a gallant bow...

What a description; pathetically sad and unfortunately, so true of many, ....who don't live there...

Your writing smacks me up along side my brain sometimes.     Enjoyed the talent of this write.

Thanks, Pat

I see you found some inspiration...

Lady Orleans has many many stories.
I only wish you'd found some of the happier ones...

thanks to all of you... I'm glad to be back and sad at the same time the lady and I didn't get to spend more time together. She has beauty...and a sense of who she is layered with so many things that are like us..as people.. making her complex and somewhat vulnerable at the same time she would poison you.

Playing catch up from being gone...and I promise..no more about New Orleans for a while and more reading as well as responding to the poems here.. for now... thank you again..it is greatly felt when any of you take time and say a few words to what I might scribble here on the blue walls...

never been to New Orleans, somehow I think I would see it the way you did, the sadness outweighing the beauty....when you see the debauchery on tv, it makes me shudder...
wonderful write....gonna direct a friend to read this...she used to live there

Friend here. *G* And I'm glad I followed directions. *S* You've captured one of the many flavors the city and her occupants offer... not every turn of the kaleidoscope displays pretty colors. *S*

This is a fantastic write, sir... I greatly enjoyed. *S*

Ron, some really amazing writing and vivid descriptions. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and read it several times.

Sadly, I think there are women like this everywhere.

Thank you for sharing.

I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait.

Hey Boyo, you captured her gay light perfectly!

I'm fascinated by your snapshots and the slices of life you depict!

Wonderful writing you~

Pictures of N'Awlins
And all the things I saw,
Some are simply sad,
Living Mardi Gras
